Benefits of a Plant-based Diet

There’s increasing evidence that adopting a plant-based diet is better for human health, the planet, and of course for the more than 9 billion animals that are killed for consumption each year in the U.S alone. The latest evidence came from the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, an outside group of experts in the fields of nutrition, medicine, and public health, which is suggesting that “a diet higher in plant-based foods, such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds, and lower in calories and animal-based foods is more health promoting and is associated with less environmental impact than is the current U.S. diet.”
